PERSONAL, SOCIAL and HEALTH EDUCATION
PSHE is taught in all classes and has high priority in our school. Assembly on a Monday sets the theme and teachers follow this up with work in their classes during the week. We cover all aspects of personal, social to include citizenship, diversity and equality, bullying and racism to and all aspects of health through our personal care programme. We want to foster a feeling of self worth and self esteem and to understand their feelings and the feelings of others and the effect their actions may have on other people. Children are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing fully to the life of the school and community. Through this, they learn to recognise their own worth and become increasingly responsible for their own learning.

Included in the School Curriculum is a Personal Care Programme which involves the teaching and learning of aspects of health, safety, personal hygiene and care for each other, Sex Education and Drug Education. These are complementary to the School Science curriculum and are in line with recent Government requirements.

If you would prefer that your child does not participate in the sex education programme, please put your request in writing to the Head teacher.
